Importance of vaccination + boosters: Cases clearly going up everywhere in the USA and in UK: I am struggling with the issue of what the precise and most appropriate time to step down from my current position to move on to writing books and entering the next phase of the winter of my career. It is very difficult for me to pull away from being the director of NIAID given the extraordinary history that I have created and lived through over the last 38 years as director. As we approach the decision making time of this summer although I lean very strongly two announcing my departure in August and leaving at the end of 2022, the thought of this still causes considerable anxiety in me as to whether or not I am doing this too soon.
