A very touching tribute and “good-bye” to me by the AAI Council. I regularly for 38 years on an annual basis address the council here in Bethesda, they gave me a very warm last meeting with a prolonged standing ovation as I walked into the room.
Terrific evening at Jeff Zients’s home. He had a reception on the occasion of making available online the tapes of conversations between Richard Stengel (Editor of Time Magazine) and Nelson Mandela. Mandela attended Jeff and Mary’s wedding as did Richard. Had nice conversation with Merrick Garland and I encouraged him that we have faith in his judgment and integrity to do the right thing regarding the issues with Trump. Also, finally saw in person Katy Kay who has interviewed me multiple times virtually over the years for the BBC
