• The secretary of HHS we'll ask the Inspector General to do an audit of EcoHealth and its oversight up the subaward to the Wuhan institute of virology. I am certain that there will be some deficiencies that the IG will find as is always the case with IG audits. Certainly, whatever they find it will be misconstrued by those who want to make a case for our involvement in the outbreak. I am starting to feel that it is important for me to write an editorial or an opinion piece giving our side of the story. PRESS: FOX got hold of An article that I wrote in 2012 in mBio where I spoke about the moratorium on gain of function. They completely misconstrued it to say that I was in favor of gain of function research even if it meant the risk of a pandemic. The New York Post picked it up and their headline is : Fauci once argued for risky viral experiments — even if they can lead to pandemic By Gabrielle Fonrouge This is truly outrageous. I contemplated writing a response to fox news, but they only gave me about an hour to do so comma and when I thought about the situation, it became clear to me that they would cherry pick words from my response and turn it against me. And so I decided to do nothing. Hopefully the intensity of this will diminish somewhat over the next few days.
